Video links
A share link from a cloud drive or a file-sharing app opens a download page. You need the link to the file itself, often ending in .mp4.
A Drive link opens Google's preview, not the file. Download the video and play it with Choose file instead.
Change the end of the link from dl=0 to raw=1, and it points to the file.
MP4 with H.264 video plays in every browser. H.265 (HEVC) plays in some browsers and not in others.
Some servers do not let other websites play their files. If the link works on its own but not here, that is the cause.

Check that the link is right and points to an MP4 file. The fixes for the common causes are above: share-page links, codecs and servers that block other sites.
Check that the player and your computer are not muted, and that the file has an audio track.
Your connection, or the server hosting the file, is too slow for the video. Try again on a faster connection, or download the file and play it with Choose file.
The player shows the file as it is. A low-resolution or heavily compressed file looks the same everywhere.
If the video carries subtitles, turn them on in the player's settings.
